Typical dimensions run 100″ to 112″ square — over 9 feet per side in some models — with filled weights of approximately 5,500 to 7,500 lbs. A purpose-built foundation (minimum 4″–6″ reinforced concrete pad, sized to match the spa’s footprint) is required. Existing wood decks are not suitable for a spa of this weight class without significant structural modification. Plan your foundation as a first step, before anything else.

Electrical requirements typically run 60–80 amps on a dedicated 240V circuit, and some premium models with dual high-output pump systems may approach or exceed 100 amps. Confirm the exact electrical spec for the specific model you’re purchasing and have a licensed electrician complete the work before delivery day.

At nine seats, manufacturers bring out their full feature set. Multi-pump systems (often three or more pumps) allow independent control of multiple jet zones at full pressure simultaneously. Jet counts typically run 60–90+, organized across a lounge zone, upper-body therapeutic zone, and social seating zones. Many 9-person models include premium features like LED lighting systems, waterfall or fountain elements, audio systems, and programmable topside controls with digital water management.

The therapeutic experience at this scale is genuinely different from smaller spas. A full-length lounge seat with calf and foot jets, paired with dedicated neck and shoulder positions and corner seat hip coverage, means every person in the spa can simultaneously access the jet coverage they want. Planning Your 9-Person Hot Tub Installation

Because of their size and weight, 9-person spas require more pre-delivery planning than any other category. Key questions to work through before purchase:

Foundation: Is your concrete pad poured, level, and sized to the spa? Is it cured? (New concrete needs 28 days to fully cure before a loaded spa is placed on it.)

Electrical: Is the dedicated circuit installed, inspected, and ready? Is the GFCI disconnect located appropriately?

Access: How does the spa reach its final location? If it can’t be rolled directly from the truck to the pad, crane placement is required. At 5,500–7,500 lbs, there are no shortcuts — access planning happens before the delivery is scheduled.
