Why Choose a 12 or 13 ft Swim Spa

This is our most affordable size class, and for many households it's the right one — not a compromise. The TidalFit Active EP-12 is a dedicated exercise pool; the ActivePlus models add swim jet systems in bench and open layouts; and the AquaSwim 512B and AquaSwim 13 bring family-friendly compact options. A 12 ft footprint also opens placements a 19-footer never could: tight side yards, existing patios, and some indoor and basement installs.

One honest caveat: if serious lap swimming is the goal, this size class isn't it — the current-versus-wall physics need 14 feet. Start at the lap swimming page for why.

12–13 ft Swim Spas – Frequently Asked Questions

For jetted swimming, aqua jogging, and resistance exercise, yes — you swim in place against the current, so lane length matters less than in a pool. For serious lap training, 14 feet is the honest minimum; see our lap swimming picks for why.

That's exactly who this size is for. You'll need a reinforced pad or engineered deck, clearance for the cover lifter, and delivery access — we review all three before you commit. Compact models are also the most likely to work for indoor installs.

Our 12–13 ft models are the most affordable swim spas we sell, currently running from the mid-$20,000s to low-$30,000s. See the swim spa cost guide for the full budget picture including electrical and pad.
